gear

for Astrophotography

Below you find my latest Astrophotography gear.

Currently, I am using a very mobile and affordable astro gear as you can see below.

Here you learn more about astrophotography only with a DSLR camera and the pros and cons about it.

Camera

At the moment I am using a non-astro-modified Canon EOS M50 camera. (When I bought it aprox. 550 Eur/655 US-$.)

Pixel: 24,1 MP (effective)

Sensor: CMOS-Sensor APS-C

Sensor size: 22,3 x 14,9 mm.

Pixel size: 3,72 um

ISO (manual): 100-51.200

Crop factor compared to full frame: 1,6

RAW Format: CR3

Exposure time (manual): 1/4000 – 30 sec & bulb mode

Lens

Kit lens. 15-45mm. (f= 3,5 – 6,3)

Lens heater/ warmer

From COOWOO for connection with USB power bank.

Tripod

Cheap Cullmann 52125 – Alpha 2500 (Aluminium).

Sure, not a rock solid tripod but steady enough for astrophotography with a 15-45mm kit lens.

Compass

Suunto MC-2 premium compass. (Just for orientation. Had it already. Little exaggerated for AP. – Mobile app is also fine.)

Head lamp

LED (ABTW), red/white light.

Power bank

24.000 mAh (AKEEM), USB 3.0.

Software

Digital planetarium: Stellarium.

Stacking: Since I am working with a Mac system, I am currently using Lynkeos® for stacking – Not satisfied with it!

Image post-processing: GIMP®.
